CentOS is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (expensive but excellent reputation) source code recompiled out of the free version, so not only inherit RHEL superior stability, but also provide free updates, so in the server provider, small and medium-sized companies installed almost the largest Linux distribution, has now officially joined Red Hat. Students engaged in Internet technology, CentOS should be worthy of your in-depth understanding of learning and research.

2. Introduction
Welcome to the first release of CentOS-7. CentOS is an enterprise-class Linux distribution derived from the free public source code of Red Hat1.
CentOS fully complies with Red Hat's reissue policy and strives to be fully functionally compatible with upstream products. CentOS's modifications to components were mainly to remove Red Hat's trademarks and artwork.
We have decided not to comply with Red Hat's installation aliases. The system administrator has access to all "channels" during installation.
CentOS-6 to CentOS-7 provides a supported upgrade path for the first time. This path only supports upgrading from the latest version of CentOS-6 (6.5 at deadline) to the latest version of CentOS-7. More information about upgrade procedures can be found on this page. The tool that provides this functionality is still in testing and will be released later. If you can assist with testing, see the discussion on the CentOS-Devel mailing list.
Read the rest of the paragraphs before you attempt to install or report problems.
3. installation media
CentOS provides different installation images. The image you need depends on your installation environment. These images can be burned on DVD or written on USB stick with dd.
If you are unsure which image is appropriate, select DVD image. It allows you to select which components to install.
We also have live media images for Gnome and KDE desktop environments. They allow you to test CentOS by booting it on DVD or USB stick. The third livecd image is Gnome: as the name suggests, this image is small enough to fit on a CD. The image does not contain libreoffice. You can also install CentOS on your hard drive using live media images, but note that what you install is exactly what you see when using live media. If you want more flexibility in choosing components, use DVD images.
netinstall image is suitable for installation on a network. After booting with the netinstall image, the installer asks where to download the installed components.
The everything image contains all the components provided by CentOS, including those that cannot be installed directly through the installer. If you want to install these sleeves, You must mount the installation media after completing the system installation, and then copy or install components from there. For most users, it may be easier to install other components with yum install after installing with DVD images.
4. Verify installation image after download
Before copying downloaded images to the desired installation media, you should check their sha256sum.

CentOS-7 cannot be properly installed on an encrypted file system via UEFI mode on a VirtualBox virtual machine. The system does not ask for sector passwords after installation unless the kernel command line is modified. See Error Report for details.
