MSExchangeIS 9519 0x972: the public folder container has been deleted or missing required properties

explain

This error occurs when the public folder container has been removed from the Active Directory, or when the affected public store is not configured to use the public folder container, that is, the value of the public folder container msExchOwningPFTreeBL property does not point to the public store. The most likely reason for this error is that the administrative group that contains the public folder container is deleted before moving the public folder container to a new administrative group.

Determine the cause of the error

Using ADSI Edit or similar tools, locate each administrative group object in Active Directory.

Administrative group objects can be found in the following locations:

CN=Configuration,CN=Services,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Organization,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=Administrative group

Expand each administrative group in turn to check for the existence of CN=Folder Hierarchies containers. If a CN=Folder Hierarchies container exists, highlight the container and verify that there is a CN=Public Folders object in the right pane. If the CN=Public Folders object does not exist in any administrative group, go to solution 1 and recreate the folder hierarchy and public folder container. If the CN=Public Folders container is found, proceed to step 3.

Right-click the CN=Public Folders object, and then click Properties.

In the Properties list, select the msExchOwningPFTreeBL property, and then click Edit.

Make sure that affected public folder stores are displayed in the Numeric list. If it is not listed, proceed with solution 2.

Solution 1:

Recreate the folder hierarchy and public folder container

Using ADSI editing or similar tools, locate and expand the Exchange Management Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT).

The Exchange Management Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT) object can be found in the following locations:

Right-click the new folder hierarchy object, click New, and then click objects.

In the Select Category list, select msExchPFTree, and then click next.

In the value box, type Public folder, and then click next.

Click more Properties.

In the Select Category list, select msExchPFTreeType, and then click next.

In the Edit Properties box, type 1, then click Settings, click OK, and then click finish.

To assign a public folder container to each public store, right-click the Public folder container and select Properties.
