Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

In Citrix environment, printing solutions include UPD, NPD, UPS, CUP and CPP. These solutions generally use printer drivers: NPD and UPD. Among them, NPD and UPD are not only a solution but also a general name of printer driver type.

Where NPD represents the use of a real printer driver, and UPD represents a general-purpose printer driver developed using Citrix.

At the same time, the Citrix printing environment is based on the Windows printing environment, so both NPD and UPD should follow the Windows printing architecture and driver architecture. At present, there are two kinds of printing architecture and driver architecture under Windows system: V3 and V4. V4 architecture is a new architecture introduced in 2012.

Under the V3 architecture, in general, all printer drivers provided by Microsoft have been tested with Terminal Services to ensure that they can be used in conjunction with Citrix. Before using the printer, we just need to make sure that the driver has passed the Terminal Services certification of the Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) program. Citrix is compatible with the driver. But V4 is different.

The following lists the support for print drivers for Windows V3 and V4 architectures in Citrix environments:

Driver usage Policy (v3/v4 driver) Universal print driver usage Policy-use printer model-specific driver generic print driver usage policy-only V4 driver on generic print UPS server does not support V4 driver on Client does not support V3 driver support on UPS server support V3 driver support on Client

-installing local v4 drivers on VDA and clients in Citrix environment is not supported.

-installing native v4 drivers on VDA and UPS is not supported.

-all v3 drivers installed on VDA\ UPS\ Client are supported as long as they have entered Windows (WHQL).
