The world of artificial intelligence can be daunting because of available terminology and different machine learning algorithms. After reading more than 50 most recommended machine learning books, I compiled a list of my personal must-read books.

The selected books are based on the types of ideas introduced, as well as the presentation of different concepts such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and genetic algorithms. Most importantly, the list is based on books that best pave the way for futurists and researchers to build provably responsible and explainable AI.

Life 3.0 has an ambitious goal of exploring the possibility of how we can coexist with artificial intelligence in the future. General artificial Intelligence (Artificial General Intelligence,AGI) is the final and inevitable result of the intelligent explosion argument put forward by the British mathematician Irving Good in 1965. The argument states that superhuman intelligence will be the result of machines that can constantly improve themselves. The famous quotes of the intelligence explosion are as follows:

Max Tegmark brings the book into the theoretical future of living in a world controlled by AGI. From this moment on, explosive questions are asked, such as what is intelligence? What is memory? What is calculation? Besides, what is learning? How do these questions and possible answers ultimately lead to machine paradigms, where various types of machine learning can be used to achieve the self-improvement breakthroughs needed to achieve human-level intelligence, as well as the inevitable super intelligence?

These are the types of forward thinking and important questions explored by Life 3.0. Life 1. 0 is a simple life form, such as bacteria, that can only be changed by modifying the evolution of its DNA. Life 2.0 is a life form where you can redesign your own software, such as learning new languages or skills. Life 3.0is an artificial intelligence that can modify not only its own behavior and skills, but also its own hardware, such as upgrading the robot itself.

Only when we understand the pros and cons of AGI can we begin to review options to ensure that we build a friendly AI and are consistent with our goals. In order to do this, we may also need to know what consciousness is. What is the difference between artificial intelligence consciousness and our own consciousness?
