preparations

1. Deploy AD domain controller. See AD domain controller deployment section.

2. Set the IP address of SQL Server to be manually specified, DNS points to AD domain server IP

3. Add SQL Server to domain (restart server after adding domain)

4. Create a new SQL Server user in AD domain server. For creating a user, see the section "New User".

Add SQL Server users to the local administrators group where SQL Server is installed, and log in to SQL Server as SQL Server users to install SQL Server.

install software

Download the SQL Server CD image file to disk D, right-click the file and proceed with "Load"

CD image file loading complete, find "setup.exe" right-click "Run as administrator"

Here you will be prompted to verify, click "Yes"

Open SQL Server Installation Center, select Install, click New SQL Server Standalone Installation or Add New Features to Existing Installation, run SQL Server Setup Wizard, select Product Key Specify Available Version, we will experiment with Evaluation Version, click Next

License terms, check "I accept license terms" and click "Next"

Microsoft updates here by clicking directly on "Next"

Product updates do not matter, click "Next"

Installation rules verified, click "Next"

Function selection according to their own needs to choose, we here select these commonly used, installation function storage location here let it default installation in C disk, click "Next"

Function rules, click "Next", general verification will skip directly

Instance Configuration Select Default Instance, click Next, or you can name your own instance

The account name of the service account has been set by default. We don't need to set it here. Click "Sort Rules"

Select Custom in Collation, open the Customize SQL Server 2016 Database Engine Collation window, select SQL Collation for Backward Compatibility, select SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS and click OK. Later, when installing SCCM, there is an explicit requirement that SQL Server Collation needs to use SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. Of course, if SCCM system is not used later, the collation can also be set by default.

Sort rules setup complete, click "Next"

Database engine configuration, server configuration, click "Add current user" to specify SQL Server administrator

Of course, you can also add more administrators, click "Add", pop up the "Select user, computer, service account or group" dialog box, enter the object name "Administrator" user or computer, group, etc., and then click "Check name", here is the added AD domain user, click "OK"

Specify SQL Server Administrator Settings complete, click "Data Directory"

Set the database storage location, we store it in D:\MSSQL\directory here, click "Next"

Reporting Service configuration, default here is good, click "Next"

Function rule verification completed, click "Next", general verification will automatically skip

All set up, confirm configuration, click "Install"

Install SQL Server Administration Tools

Now back to SQL1 server, SQL Server 2016 installation package does not come with SQL Server management tools, all need to download, install separately, double-click "SSMS-Setup-16.0-CHS.exe", run "Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio", click "Install"

Click Start-Microsoft SQL Server 2016-Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, the server name has been automatically entered into the SQL Server network name just created, click Connect
