­Google will launch an Android chat service to replace traditional text messaging, which Google hopes to challenge Apple's iMessage and Facebook WhatsApp.

­Google says it will join dozens of operators around the world to run the chat service Chat on Android in the future. The new Chat allows users to send high-definition pictures, videos and GIF animated pictures, and even get a reply, and you can also see if the other person is entering information through Chat. Google Chat uses the rich media communications service standard (RCS).

­the Global Association for Mobile Communications Systems estimates that 350 million people will use the RCS protocol by the end of this year and will double in 2019. The association expects that with the popularity of RCS, 3 billion users will use the protocol in the future. In the United States, Sprint already supports the agreement, and T-Mobile says it will support it this year. However, Verizon does not yet support such a protocol.

­Apple iMessage and Facebook WhatsApp are currently the most popular chat apps, with 1.5 billion and 1.3 billion users, respectively.
