Long ago, Sony no longer occupies an important position in the global smartphone industry, but in a sense, when it comes to overall software support, especially the major Android updates, Sony is still a force to be ignored.

Although the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 were not the earliest phones in the world, which allowed us to steadily jump to Android 10 about a month ago, we have to admit that we were very impressed. Look at the new operating system version, has spread to not one, not two, but three, but the other four Sony phones, all driven by 9.0 Pie, the most popular mobile software platform under the sun.

No less than three of the four high-end models were originally released in early 2018 and run Android 8.0 Oreos, while the fourth model was pre-installed with Android 9.0 Pie a few months later. We are talking about the Sony Xperia XZ3, which was released in the fall of 2018, and the older XZ2, XZ2 Premium and XZ2 Compact, all of which promised to officially release Android 10 a few months ago and earlier this year.

Sony is sure to make good on this vague promise, which gives us confidence that the new but inconspicuous Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus will follow and embrace Google tightly to improve gesture navigation, privacy control, accessibility, camera versatility, data privacy, and overall security and performance for all brands of Android devices.

As always, it is important to remember that these updates are released one after another, so even in many markets around the world, a considerable number of owners of Xperia XZ3, XZ2, XZ2 Premium, and XZ2 Compact seem to have received OTA packets. Others may have to wait a while before adding Android 10 fun with the highest level of security patches in December.
