1. Network topology

Make a HA connection through the RP port on the WLC, as shown in the figure:

1) redundancy Management Interface (RedundancyManagement Interface)

The IP address of this interface should be configured in the same subnet as the IP address of the management interface. The purpose of this interface is to confirm the status of the active WLC through the keepalive message sent by the RP interface. It is decided whether or not to switch the device according to the state of WLC.

2) redundant ports (Redundancy Port)

In the new HA architecture, this interface plays a very important role. It is responsible for configuration synchronization between active WLC and backup WLC. In order to check the reachability of redundant ports, UDP packets are sent every other 100msec to monitor the status of devices in real time.

When the redundancy management interface is configured, a redundant port is automatically generated. The IP address format is: 169.254.X.X, as shown in the figure:

1) two WLC management interfaces IP must be in the same subnet

WLC1:

WLC2:

2) HA is disabled by default. When HA is turned on, configure the local redundancy management interface IP address and the peer redundancy management interface IP address.

WLC1:

WLC2:

3) configure WLC: one is Primary mode, the other is secondary mode.

WLC1:

WLC2:

4) turn on AP SSO mode, and the device will restart when enabled.

WLC1:

WCL2:

5) when SSO is enabled, the WLC device will restart to confirm its role, and the hot backup WLC will update the configuration from the active WLC. The following is the log of starting the two WLC:

WLC1:

WLC 2 enables SSO after the first reboot:

After WLC2 starts, it will become a hot standby.

6) check the HA status.

A. WLC 1: Monitor > Redundancy > Summary:

B. WLC 2, connect through the console:
