Google has put Javier Sotheo in charge of all messaging apps. Now, that doesn't mean Google will eventually provide us with a messaging application to rule all the rules, but they should work harmoniously. And want to have the same feature set or close to the same feature set.

Sautereau is now in charge of Google Conferencing, Google chat, messaging, Google duo and phone apps. Basically, Google still has the rest of the messaging applications. The loop chat is not listed here, because it will disappear soon.

The following is Google's statement on these changes: "We will bring all Google's collective communications products together into a leader and unified team led by Javier Soltero, Vice President and General Manager of G Suite." This is good news.

Soltero is no stranger to Google.

Soltero has been in charge of Google Meet and Google Chat since Google hired him in October 2019. He is the vice president and general manager of G Suite and is mainly responsible for these two applications.

Now, this move integrates all of Google's messaging apps. Soltero's team will be in charge of all Google's communications applications, which is a good move.

In a conversation with The Verge today, Soltero did point out that there are no current plans to integrate any Google apps. At least not yet.

Google's communication strategy is a mess, and Soltero may be one of the solutions to all the problems.

As we all know, Google's information strategy is a mess. They range from combining everything into one application to decomposing each function into another application (see Allo and Duo). From three messaging applications to seven messaging applications (once). So Google can use some help here, and Soltero may be the one who helps them.

Soltero had a long career before joining Google last year. He created a popular Acompli email application. About two months after the deal was completed, Microsoft acquired the application and turned it into a major Outlook application.

If all Soltero did was move us to three apps (Google Conferencing, Google chat and Google News), then his tenure would be successful. In this way, you can get a video chat app, an instant messaging app and, most importantly, a messaging app for all Android phones. But this is unlikely to happen soon, because these things do take time.
