Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--
First of all, we have a virtual machine with a virtual system.
I am using VMware Workstation 14 with Windows 10 installed. Windows 7 is installed on the computer. Can they be interconnected?
VMWare provides three modes of operation: bridged, NAT, and host-only. To use them properly in network management and maintenance, you should first understand these three modes of operation.
1. bridged (bridge mode)
In this mode, VMWare virtualizes the operating system as an independent host in a local area network, which can access any machine in the network. In bridge mode, you need to manually configure the virtual system with IP addresses, subnet masks, and the same network segment as the host machine so that the virtual system can communicate with the host machine. Meanwhile, since the virtual system is an independent host system in the local area network, its TCP/IP configuration information can be manually configured to access the Internet through the gateway or router of the local area network.
A virtual system using bridge mode and the host machine are related like two computers connected on the same Hub. For them to communicate with each other, you need to configure IP addresses and subnet masks for virtual systems, otherwise they cannot communicate.
If you want to use VMWare to create a new virtual server within your local area network to provide network services to local area network users, you should choose bridge mode.
2.host-only
In some special network debugging environments, it is required to separate the real environment from the virtual environment, and you can use host-only mode. In host-only mode, all virtual systems can communicate with each other, but virtual systems are isolated from the real network.
Tip: In host-only mode, the virtual system and host machine system can communicate with each other, which is equivalent to the interconnection of the two machines through twisted pair.
In host-only mode, TCP/IP configuration information (such as IP address, gateway address, DNS server, etc.) of the virtual system is dynamically allocated by DHCP server of VMnet1 (host-only) virtual network.
If you want to use VMWare to create a virtual system isolated from other machines on the network for some special network debugging work, you can choose host-only mode.
NAT (Network Address Translation Mode)
Using NAT mode means that the virtual system accesses the public network through the host machine's network with NAT(Network Address Translation) function. That is, NAT mode can be used to access the Internet in virtual systems. TCP/IP configuration information of virtual system in NAT mode is provided by DHCP server of VMnet8 (NAT) virtual network, and cannot be modified manually. Therefore, virtual system cannot communicate with other real hosts in this local area network. The biggest advantage of NAT mode is that virtual system access to the Internet is very simple, you do not need to do any other configuration, only the host machine can access the Internet can be.
If you want to use VMWare to install a new virtual system that provides direct Internet access without any manual configuration, NAT mode is recommended.
Note: VMnet8 virtual network in NAT mode, VMnet1 virtual network in host-only mode, and VMnet0 virtual network in bridged-mode mentioned above are all generated by VMWare virtual machine automatic configuration, and do not require user to set them up by themselves. VMnet8 and VMnet1 offer DHCP services, while VMnet0 virtual networks do not.
Here we choose host-only
Then use cmd's ipconfig command to query the host's IP address.
Then use the same command to query whether the IP of the virtual system is on the same domain as the host.
This is the same domain. If it is different, fill in the IP parameters of the same domain on the network adapter.
Just one last test to see if it works.
The result was a success, enabling the virtual machine to interconnect with the host machine.
