The development of ­GNOME 3.28 branch was officially launched today, and many core components and applications, including Mutter and GNOME Shell, have been updated extensively. The development of the GNOME 3.28 branch will be advanced with the version number 3.27.x, and the first snapshot version, GNOME 3.27.1, has been launched today.

­GNOME's hybrid window manager Mutter has been upgraded to version 3.27.1, and support for hybrid GPU systems has finally been added. However, Mutter 3.27.1 also improves the zoom problem of HiDPI and the inability to jump to full-screen windows.

­A lot of new features have been added to the Epiphany web browser in GNOME 3.27.1, which is launched today. The first version of snapshot supports Google Safe Browsing, can use libdazzle's new drop-down address bar, and better supports the Flatpak universal installation format.

­according to the roadmap, GNOME 3.27.2 will be launched on November 15, while GNOME 3.27.3 will be available on December 13. In January next year, the GNOME 3.28 desktop environment will enter the Beta phase. GNOME 3.27.4 is expected to be launched on January 10, 2018, while a second Beta version will be launched on February 14, Valentine's Day.
