AMD third Generation Shark Tooth Threadripper Shark Tooth 32 Nuclear benchmark leakage

Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

There seems to be a third generation of AMD Auron Threadripper processors on Geekbench, this time using 32 physical cores and 64 threads to handle workloads. The entry points to the "shark tooth" section, with 3.6 gigahertz baseband and 128 megabytes (16MB x 8) tertiary cache and 16MB L2 cache.

The shark tooth name is interesting-it also appeared in the leaked UserBenchmark entry last month, and it is also considered a third-generation Threadripper chip, even though it has 16 cores and 32 threads. We also see Aoyama as the code name for the next generation of Threadripper processors based on the AMD Zen 2 CPU architecture.

In addition, the 32-core / 64 thread scored 5677 in the single-core test of Geekbench and 94772 in the multi-core test. Perhaps the best processor to compare these scores is AMD's current-generation Threadripper 2990WX, because it is also a 32-core / 64-thread chip. To sort out the highest multi-core test, here is the argument between the two:

There is a clock difference between Zen Threadripper 2990WX (left) and Zen 2 Threadripper CPU (right). In other words, third-generation products scored about 14.5% higher on multicore tests. If the score is based on the average score of Zen Threadripper 2990WX rather than the fastest score, the gap will widen.

We are not sure if we are really looking for third-generation Threadripper parts. Assuming that we are, it is likely to be an engineering sample, and the final specification may vary according to its production time.

It will be interesting to see how tall the cores and threads of the next Threadripper processor are. AMD raised the stakes by providing third-generation Ruilong desktop processors with up to 16 cores, which invaded the high-end desktop (HEDT) world. AMD also mentioned Threadripper in its recent roadmap presentation slides, which led some to speculate about its demise. However, Dr. Su Zifeng, chief executive of AMD, set a record in his comments to a group of investors.

"it's interesting that there's something circulating on the Internet. I don't think we said Threadripper would not continue. To some extent, it has its own life on the Internet," Dr. Su said.

"you will see more Threadripper from us. You will definitely see more. Listen, we like the high-end desktop market. I think we will see this, whether it is the needs of content creators or workstations. Threadripper is doing a great job. So you will see more information about our use of Threadripper," Su added.

Dr. Su also hinted at a higher number of cores and pointed out that "if the mainstream is going up, then Threadripper has to go up, up-- that's what we're trying to achieve."
