Today, I will talk to you about how to use Pureftpd to configure virtual users in ubuntu. Many people may not know much about it. In order to let everyone know more, Xiaobian summarized the following contents for everyone. I hope everyone can gain something according to this article.

Ubuntu's pure-ftpd configuration file is very special, it is placed in the "/etc/pure-ftpd/conf" directory, and the option is the file name, and the option value is the file content. For example, if you want to enable the--trustedgid option, you just need to create a file named TrustedGID in this directory and write the trusted GID to the file.

For the configuration described below, please create a new text file under "/etc/pure-ftpd/conf" with the option name as the file name, and then write the option value in the content.

Virtual User Settings:

Create a new username called ftpuser in System-> System Administration-> User Names and Groups (ftpuser can be a name you like). For the main group, it is recommended to choose "ftpgroup" for convenient management. If you do not want "ftpuser" to have the function of logging in to the local system, you can select "/bin/false" in "Shell" of "Advanced Settings" in "Advanced" of account properties. Home directory Just choose the directory where you want the user to log in (in fact, I did not test if the virtual user and the actual user's home directory set different directory results), I set "/var/www/site".

then

sudo pure-pw useradd ftpuser -u ftpuser -d /var/www/site

You will be prompted to set a password.

This command is to log in as "ftpuser" on the local system, the virtual user name is "ftpuser", and the home directory of "ftpuser" is "/var/ftp"

Virtual user and local user name can be different, their own change, in fact ftpuser does not have to create line, you can directly use "ftp" this user. The home directory after the user logs in to ftp is based on the home directory specified by this command.

After adding, let pure-ftpd create virtual user data

sudo pure-pw mkdb

The resulting file is located at "/etc/pure-ftpd/pureftpd.pdb"

After reading the above, do you know more about how to configure virtual users with Pureftpd in ubuntu? If you still want to know more knowledge or related content, please pay attention to the industry information channel, thank you for your support.
