In fact, there are many kinds of storage in azure, which can be divided into many types from different angles. For example, from the type that can be created, you can now create the following three storage accounts

These three prices and the functions are not the same, for those who are not familiar with it, they may not know how to choose. Today, I am also going to introduce them.

First of all, let's start from a functional point of view.

Functionally, if we want to create a storage account, we have three options, which are also described above, so how to determine which one we need to deploy?

1. First of all, in terms of the deployment model, we do not consider the pattern of classic, but use ARM directly, so we do not need to consider that general-purpose v1 can support classic.

two。 Second, and very important, if you need to support hot and cold storage layering, then there are only two options, blob storage or general use v2.

3. Third, if you want to use features including file storage,table on this basis, then you can be sure to use general-purpose v2. If you do not need to use these features, you can consider it from a cost point of view.

4. If you want to use some specific features, such as Data Lake Gen2, then there is no doubt that you should use general-purpose v2

5. General-purpose v2 is equivalent to integrating the functions of blob and general-purpose v1, integrating the advantages of two different storage accounts, so now Microsoft also recommends using general-purpose v2 storage accounts.

6. In general, there is no special reason, general use v2 is recommended.

Next, from a price point of view,

1. From a price point of view, the price of general use v2 is lower than that of conventional use v1.

The price of 2.BlobStroage is the same as that of v2 for general use, only from the perspective of blob

To sum up:

It is recommended to use general-purpose v2, no matter from the point of view of function or price, it is very suitable. If it is only used for blob storage, it doesn't hurt to use blob storage.

It also supports upgrading from a general-purpose v1 or Blob storage account to a general-purpose v2 account without downtime and data replication.
