Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--
Recently, a customer asked me that our company has Exchange environment, and our IT department receives many users who reset their passwords every day. They asked me if I could reset the user password in ECP of Exchange. Yes, it is possible to reset the password through ECP, but many friends found that after deploying Exchange 2013, they could only choose the user to change the password next time they log in in ECP of Exchange. There is no reset password option. Next, I will introduce how to reset the user password in ECP of Exchange.
In Exchange Server 2013, user mailbox passwords can be changed by users from their own OWA (Outlook Web Access) settings page or by administrators in EAC (Exchange Administration Center). Changing passwords from a user's OWA settings is fairly simple. However, if you want to reset the password of a particular user from the EAC, you may not find the password reset option in the Web console, as shown below.
This is because the default administrator user does not have permission to reset passwords for mailbox user accounts in the default installation of Exchange 2013. Not sure why Microsoft doesn't use this option by default. So we have to add permissions manually. To do this, open EAC and log in with an administrator user account. Click Rights in the Features pane. Click the Manage Roles tab. Here you can see a list of default character groups.
The Organization administrative role group contains almost all the roles required except for the reset password feature. By default, only administrators are members of this group. So we need to add the reset password role to the organization management role group. Now double-click the Organization Management Role Group. You will see the page below.
On the page above, click the Add button under Roles. A new page pops up showing a list of all available characters, as shown below.
Select Reset Password Role. You can see a description of this role in the right pane shown above. Click the Add button to add a character, then click OK. Now click Save to save the settings. Log out and log back in from the administrator user. If successful, read the next paragraph. However, if an error occurs,"You do not have permission to create, change or delete Reset Password-Organization Management" administrative role assignments. You must assign delegated role assignments to administrative roles or their parents in the hierarchy, regardless of scope." Then reinstall the RBAC role by typing the following command in the PowerShell Management Shell. After running the following command, exit and open again. Again, log out and log in to EAC. Now try adding the Reset Password role to the role Organization Organization Management again.

Click the Recipient Features pane. Click on the mailbox tab. Double-click the mailbox to open properties. You can now see the Reset Password option in the General tab.
