­Apple's 2016 WWDC Global developer Conference will be held in the middle of this month. Although we are not sure what new hardware products Apple will release at this conference, what we can be sure is that there will be a new generation of iOS and OS X system updates.

­A lot of news has been exposed about the updates of these two operating systems, and some users have expressed their views on the update of iOS 10. They think that the iOS status bar needs to be redesigned. The full text is as follows:

­the first is the problem found in iPhone SE. Apple may design the iOS system based on a 4.7-inch iPhone, and then adjust it for 5.5-inch and 4-inch models. Sharing the page is my best proof: the gap between icons is too large, this is easy to adapt, but the status bar is different. Have you noticed that if the iOS status bar can't display everything at the same time, it scrolls. I found it on iPhone SE in April.

­on iPhone SE, we sometimes encounter the problem of unreasonable layout or lack of optimization for small screens. I didn't find this problem when I used the old iPhone, but now I think the reason for this problem is that the iOS is designed with a 4.7-inch screen by default. The status bar and Action page are the best proof of this.

­as shown in the picture, this is a screenshot of my iPhone status bar. You may want to ask why there is still the word "Wi-Fi" in this status bar. This is because AT&T supports Wi-Fi calls. With the addition of the word "Wi-Fi", does the status bar look crowded?

­iPhone SE uses basically the same shape as the iPhone 5s, but I didn't expect these strange changes. One is because I think the early iOS versions (including iOS 7) are mainly designed for 4-inch screens, and then iOS 8 and later are mainly designed for large-screen devices at the expense of the 4-inch iPhone visual experience.

For iPhone SE, I am satisfied with everything except its status bar. In fact, in order to avoid that kind of congestion in the status bar, I changed my habit of using iPhone: first, I disabled the Wi-Fi call function, because this function changes the words on the status bar from "AT&T" to "AT&T Wi-Fi", and the clock is always in the middle. In addition, this is the first time that I have turned off the display of battery percentage and transferred the alarm alarm function to Apple Watch, so that there is no alarm clock icon on the iPhone status bar.

­form precedes function, which is a bit frustrating, but it works well. My second example is the playing page of Apple Music and Podcasts. I guess Apple uses this design to make the interface more modern, but iOS shows the album cover and a hidden button under the status bar, and the album cover covers the entire interface.

­if the album cover is solid color, such a design is fine, but if the album cover color is more bright, more text, which will affect the viewing of the entire interface. Apple also tries to solve this problem, but even settings such as larger fonts and increased contrast don't help:

­I think this is the origin of all the problems: the interface looks comfortable on Mac, but even if it looks good on iOS devices, it still takes me 2-3 seconds to see what's on the iPhone status bar. When the brightness of the screen is not high, the white words on the gray background on the screen are basically invisible.

And my last example is also a problem that made me finally decide to write this article: text overlap.

­in this case, neither the iOS nor the album cover has achieved the desired display effect. IOS was like this before the start of the podcast "The Axe Files". Maybe Apple's podcast app has a lot of users listening to this podcast, but Apple should not require developers to develop around the iOS status bar and hidden keys.

­the picture below shows the effect of some podcast covers and the iOS status bar "not interfering with each other". It looks all right.

­but there are also some covers that look beautiful, but become like this after being "plugged in" by the iOS status bar:

­the best-case scenario is that the iOS status bar is displayed above the album cover, and the floating hidden keys are merged into the album cover, but sometimes this method doesn't work. We hope that at WWDC in the middle of this month, Apple will be able to introduce their rethinking and new design of the status bar in iOS 10.
