UK8S is a Kubernetes container cloud product launched by UCloud, fully compatible with native APIs, providing users with one-stop Kubernetes services on the cloud. Since its launch, UK8S has been keeping up with the pace of open source Kubernetes. In addition to supporting the latest version of Kubernetes 1.14.6, what new actions does UK8S have recently?

UK8S App Store

1.Helm App Store launched

Helm is a package management tool in Kubernetes, which is used to simplify the deployment and management of Kubernetes applications. Helm can be understood as yum/apt-get under Linux. We synchronize the chart in Helm official library to UCloud Helm library, and synchronize the container images involved in it to UHub, which is convenient for users to deploy some common third-party applications.

II. App Store One-click installation

The UK8S app store now supports one-click online installation. Users can select the apps they need in the admin console and install them directly to the cluster with one click on the page.

User Value:

Users can also use the App Store without installing Helm, and perform one-click deployment, update, rollback, etc. through the App Store page.

UK8S New Model

I. Support for fast-acting cloud hosts

UK 8S now supports the management of fast cloud hosts, and adds configuration information required for cluster selection of cloud hosts, such as hardware isolation group, CPU platform selection, maximum number of pods, node label and other settings.

User Value:

Users can select the QJ cloud host according to their business type, and can set the hardware isolation group, CPU platform selection, node label, etc. for the node. It improves the degree of freedom of cluster use and meets the fine granularity of host selection by the business.

II. GPU Cloud Hosting Support

For UK 8S cluster management, GPU cloud host provides support. Users can add GPU nodes to UK 8S in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and use them.

User Value:

Users can provide artificial intelligence algorithm model training and other work (GPU usage requirements) through containers.

III. Scalable groups support GPU cloud hosting

After GPU cloud hosting is supported, the CA function is further updated. Auto scaling group can now support GPU cloud hosting scaling and support setting the label of scaling nodes.

User Value:

When users need to publish GPU applications or other common applications, they can select nodes through the affinity (affinity/anti-affinity) feature of K8S. Automatic scaling group can help users dynamically create nodes that meet business requirements and label them, providing dynamic scaling resources for affinity scheduling, helping users save IT operation costs.

UK8S Plugin Update

I. Storage plug-ins support dynamic awareness across availability zones

The CSI plug-in of UK8S implements the availability aware dynamic scheduling of UDisk storage volumes, and currently supports versions 1.14 and above.

User Value:

The dynamic aware scheduling of the cluster CSI plug-in ensures that each Pod and its mounted UDisk are in the same availability zone.

II. Network Plug-in Optimization

We have recently upgraded the cluster network plug-in, optimizing the network latency between pods, greatly reducing the ARP broadcast and unicast latency of Pod IP, and reducing the first packet latency to one-tenth of the original.

I. UK8S 1.14.6 New Version Support

This month UK8S updated the creation of Kubernetes version 1.14.6, and now the official website can provide users with new cluster versions 1.12.7, 1.13.10, and 1.14.6.

II. Updated version for Go HTTP/2 vulnerability

Netflix, Google and CERT/CC have revealed eight security vulnerabilities related to HTTP/2, and kubernetes has officially provided minor fixes based on the fixed version of Go. The new cluster version provided by the official website changes as follows:

1.13.5 Upgrade to 1.13.10

1.14.5 Upgrade to 1.14.6

UK8S Cross-Availability Zone Support

UK8S supports the creation of high availability UK8S clusters across Availability Zones in the same region.

User Value:

Users can create a set of UK 8S clusters across availability zones in the same VPC network. All nodes of the cluster can be distributed in the availability zones supported by the region. In the case that a single availability zone is unavailable, the user cluster can still run stably, and the high availability of the cluster can be further improved.

UK8S has fully supported the deployment of all overseas nodes, supporting the following regions: China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, China Hong Kong, Taipei; Asia Pacific: Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh; North America and Europe: Los Angeles, Washington, Moscow, Frankfurt, London; Others: Mumbai, Dubai, Sao Paulo, Lagos.
