Create an elastic Nic

You can create an elastic Nic in the following two ways:

Attach an elastic Nic when creating an instance. In this way, you can only attach up to 2 elastic network cards, one is the primary network card and the other is the secondary network card. A secondary Nic created in this way, if not detached from the instance, will be released with the instance.

Create an elastic Nic separately. The created elastic Nic can be attached to the instance. The elastic network card created by this method can only be used as an auxiliary network card.

This article describes how to create an elastic Nic separately in the console.

Limit

There are the following restrictions on creating an elastic Nic:

The resilient Nic must belong to a VPC switch (VSwitch).

The elastic Nic must join at least one security group.

prerequisite

Before you can create an elastic Nic, you must do the following:

Create a proprietary network (VPC) in the appropriate region and create a switch.

Creates a security group under the specified private network.

Operation steps

Follow these steps to create an elastic Nic:

Log in to the ECS Management console.

In the left navigation bar, select Network and Security > Elastic Network Card.

Select the region.

Click to create an elastic Nic.

In the create ENI dialog box, complete the following settings:

Network card name: set the elastic network card name according to the prompts.

Proprietary network: the ENI can only be attached to an instance of the same private network, so select the private network where your instance is located.

The proprietary network cannot be changed after the elastic Nic is created.

Switch: the ENI can only be attached to an instance in the same availability zone, so select the switch in the availability zone where your instance is located. The two can belong to different switches.

(optional) Primary intranet IP: enter the primary intranet IPv4 address of the ENI. This IPv4 address must belong to a free address in the CIDR segment of the switch. If you do not specify it, you will be automatically assigned a free private IPv4 address when you create the ENI.

Security group: select a security group for the current private network.

(optional) description: enter a description of the elastic Nic to facilitate later management.

Click OK.

In the Nic list, refresh the list. When the status of the new ENI is displayed as available, it means that you have successfully created the ENI.

Subsequent operation

After the ENI is created successfully, you can do the following:

Attach an elastic Nic to an instance

Modify the attributes of an elastic Nic

Delete an elastic Nic
