Editor to share with you how to use Oracle Data Guard to complete cross-platform database migration cases, I believe that most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference, I hope you can learn a lot after reading this article, let's go to know it!

The customer was originally a stand-alone version of Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 Database for Windows database system, the customer's demand is to migrate the stand-alone version of Oracle Database to 3-node Oracle RAC Database, and the platform becomes Linux, but the database version remains unchanged. Customers want to have as little downtime as possible.

Usually, DG (Data Guard) is often used for non-cross-version Oracle Database migration. After configuring DG, you can do a switchover to complete the rapid migration of the database, and then modify the IP address later.

Although this case requires cross-platform, Oracle Database supports limited cross-platform configuration DG from 11g. The following is the compatibility list (physical Standby) for configuring heterogeneous platform DG:

As can be seen from the compatibility list above, Microsoft Windows (x86 / 64) (12) and Linux x86 / 64 (13) can be compatible with DG for building heterogeneous platforms, but it should be noted that Oracle Database needs to be 11g, and Patch 13104881 needs to be applied. This Patch only exists on Linux platform, and only when Windows (master database) synchronizes to Linux (standby library), this patch needs to be applied on Linux platform (reverse will not encounter corresponding bug). Please refer to the Patch 13104881 instructions for more information.

For more information on building ADG on heterogeneous platforms, please refer to the article: "support for heterogeneous active and standby systems in physical Data Guard (Doc ID 1602437.1)"

After confirming that DG can be built between the existing platform and the new platform, the remaining problem is how to convert the stand-alone Database into RAC Database. This step actually needs to be carried out after converting the slave database of the Linux platform into the main database. The following describes the general steps of the migration:

1. Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Clusterware in the new environment.

two。 Install the Oracle RAC Database software in the new environment.

3. Create ASM disk groups and configure listeners.

4. Create a Windows-to-Linux ADG on the first node of RAC (using the VIP address of the first node, configured in real-time synchronization mode), and store control files, data files, log files, and so on directly to the shared ASM disk group.
