Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--
This article is to share with you about the difference between Chromium and Chrome. The editor thought it was very practical, so I shared it with you as a reference. Let's follow the editor and have a look.
Chromium is an open source browser project that forms the basis of Chrome web browsers.
When Google first launched Chrome in 2008, they also released Chrome as the Chromium source code for an open source project. The open source code is maintained by the Chromium project, while the Chrome itself is maintained by Google.
The biggest difference between the two browsers is that although Chrome is based on Chromium, Google also adds many proprietary features to Chrome, such as automatic updates and support for other video formats. Google has taken a similar approach to Chromium OS, an open source project that forms the basis of its own Chrome operating system, which runs on Chromebook.
What does Chrome have that Chromium doesn't have?
Chrome is based on Chromium, but Google has added a lot of proprietary closed-source bits to Chrome browsers, which Chromium lacks.
1. AAC,H.264 and MP3 support. Chrome includes licensed codecs for these proprietary media formats, giving you access to a wider variety of media content-especially websites that use HTML5 video to transmit H.264 video. Both browsers include basic free codecs: Opus,Theora,Vorbis,VP8,VP9 and WAV.
2. Adobe Flash (PPAPI). Chrome includes a plug-in for sandboxie Pepper API (PPAPI) Flash, and Google will be updated automatically with Chrome. This is the only way to get the latest version of Flash on Linux. Even on Windows and Mac, you'd better use the sandboxie PPAPI Flash plug-in of Chrome instead of the old NPAPI Flash plug-in provided by the Adobe website. You can actually get a Pepper Flash plugin from Chrome, then install it and use it in Chromium, if you like. )
3 、 Google Update . Windows and Mac users of Chrome have access to additional background applications that automatically keep Chrome up to date. Linux users use their standard software management tools.
4. Extend the limit. For Chrome,Google, extensions that are not hosted in the Chrome Web App Store are disabled.
5. Crash and error reporting. Chrome users can choose to send statistics about crashes and errors to Google for analysis.
6. Safety sandbox. Google also points out that some Linux distributions may disable the security sandbox for Chromium, so you need to navigate to about:sandbox in Chromium to ensure that the sandbox is enabled and functioning properly by default. This is one of the best features of Chromium (and Chrome).
You should note that although Chromium is not a Google brand, Chromium is still Google-centric. For example, Chromium includes the same synchronization functionality as Chrome, and you can log in and synchronize data using your Google account.
Thank you for reading! So much for sharing the difference between Chromium and Chrome. I hope the above content can be helpful to you so that you can learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it and let more people see it.
