I. prerequisites

1. Download the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 installation image file SLES-10-x86-CD1.iso~~CD4.iso (4 installation image files) to a logical partition of the hard disk

3. Extract linux and initrd from SLES-10-x86-CD1.iso to c:\ directory.

Note: the file is located in the image file under boot/i386/loader/.

4. Divide the hard disk into a blank partition (not less than 5G space).

Second, boot installation

1. After restarting the computer, select "start grub" in the interface selected by the startup system.

2. Select commandline, and the grub > prompt appears.

3. Enter at the grub > prompt

Grub > find / linux

The hdx,y is the partition in which your linux installation is located. Note that XBI y is two numbers and will be replaced.

Grub > kernel (hdx,y) / linux

Show [linux-bzImage...]

Grub > initrd (hdx,y) / initrd

Third, enter the installation

1. If "Could not find the suse." appears after startup. The error message, enter directly.

2. Then select the installation language and keyboard layout.

3. When the installation Main Menu menu appears, select Start Installation or System.

4. Select Start Installation or Update.

5. When the Choose the source medium interface appears, select Hard Disk.

6. Select the logical partition where the installation image file is located, such as hda5, and enter.

IV. Installation process

1. Select the system language. For example, simplified Chinese. (note: sometimes this step does not occur. )

2. The license agreement interface appears and select "Yes, I accept the agreement."

3. Install the system to analyze the system and install the driver. A dialog box will pop up to indicate that the USB device has been detected, and select "New installation" as the installation method.

4. Set clock and time zone. Note: the hardware clock is set to local time.

5. Enter the installation settings in the next step. Because the partition recommended by SUSE10 removes all partitions in windows, we have to partition manually. Select the title Partition. Select create custom partition settings.

6. Next, select "Custom Partition (experts only)".

7. The next step is to enter the expert Partition Program. If there is undivided space on the hard drive. You can create partitions directly. Otherwise, delete a blank partition first. Select create. Set the file system to use (such as Reiser), partition size, mount point, etc.

8. SUSE 10 only installs part of the software by default. If you want to install them all, select the title "Software" and select the programs that need to be installed.
