Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

This article will explain in detail what IP means, the content of the article is of high quality, so the editor will share it with you for reference. I hope you will have a certain understanding of the relevant knowledge after reading this article.

IP is the abbreviation of Internet Protocol, which means "protocol for interconnection between networks", that is, a protocol designed for computer networks to communicate with each other.

In the Internet, it is a set of rules that enable all computer networks connected to the Internet to communicate with each other, stipulating the rules that computers should abide by when communicating on the Internet. The computer system produced by any manufacturer can interconnect with the Internet as long as it complies with the IP protocol.

It is because of the IP protocol that the Internet has rapidly developed into the largest and open computer communication network in the world. Therefore, the IP protocol can also be called "Internet protocol".

The IP address is used to number the computer on the Internet. What you see every day is that every networked PC needs an IP address in order to communicate normally. We can compare "personal computer" to "a phone", then "IP address" is equivalent to "phone number".

Extended data:

Fragmentation and reassembly of IP

The fragmented IP packet can be reassembled only when it arrives at its destination. Reassembly is done by the destination's IP layer, which aims to make the sharding and reassembly process transparent to the transport layer (TCP and UDP). Packets that have already been fragmented are likely to be sliced again (more than once).

Reasons for IP fragmentation

The link layer has the characteristic of the maximum transmission unit MTU, which limits the maximum length of the data frame, and different network types have an upper limit. The MTU of Ethernet is 1500, which you can check with the netstat-I command.

If there is a packet to be transmitted in the IP layer, and the length of the packet exceeds the MTU, then the IP layer will fragmentation the packet so that the length of each piece is less than or equal to MTU.

Let's assume that to transmit a UDP packet, the MTU of Ethernet is 1500 bytes, the general IP header is 20 bytes, the UDP header is 8 bytes, and the payload portion of the data is reserved for 1500-20-8 bytes. If the part of the data is larger than 1472 bytes, fragmentation occurs.

About what IP means to share here, I hope that the above content can be of some help to you, can learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it for more people to see.
