A new vulnerability has been discovered in Google Chrome that could completely freeze Windows 10 devices. The new error is used in a technical support scam to freeze Windows 10 and then tell users that their device is infected by a virus. The newly discovered error uses Javascript code to create a loop, which makes it impossible to close the tab or browser. The pop-up window also claimed to be from the official Microsoft-supported website and claimed that the computer was infected with a virus, which could endanger users' passwords, browser history, credit card information and other data.

­because it is a loop, every time a user tries to close it, it will open it again almost immediately and push your resource utilization to 100%, which will eventually cause the computer to crash. Although this may seem like an operating system problem, it is just a hoax, and users can easily fix their computers through the following steps.

­Open Task Manager from the taskbar, go to the processes tab, and click GoogleChrome (or GoogleChrome.exe)

­Click the end Task button in the lower right corner. Also, make sure that you have not set Google Chrome to restore the old tags, as this will open the fraudulent website again. A good way to avoid technical support scams is to carefully verify the other person's information before paying any money to repair your device.

­this is not the first time a technical support scam for Google browser has been identified. Earlier this year, we reported that a download bomb exploit was mainly targeted at major web browsers, and only Microsoft Edge could cope with this attack. A good rule to prevent being cheated is to keep in mind that companies don't usually ask users to pay unless they thoroughly check the device and find a problem.
