Problem description:

During the process of upgrading Exchange 2013 CU22 to check the status of cluster nodes, it was found that the cluster group was in a failed state with the following error message: warning: database availability group "*" witness failed. The database availability group requires the witness to maintain the quorum. Use set-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup cmdlet to recreate this witness and directory.

Environment (software / hardware):

Windows Server 2012 R2 + Exchange server 2013 CU22

Cause analysis:

Due to the exception of upgrade, the proper calling rights can not be recognized properly.

Resolution steps:

Rebuild the cluster witness directory from the command line as follows:

Set-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup-identity JKDAG01-WitnessDirectory "corresponding witness catalogue"
