Instagram has once again stepped up its efforts to deal with false messages, and now it includes automatically tagging some fake posts. It is expanding its fact-checking programme on a global scale. As part of the plan, if any known fake Facebook material is shared with Instagram, it will mark it. If you send the wrong Instagram profile to Facebook, you will see a similar process. If you do encounter one of these rough posts, you will see a cover of "false information", which can explain why the content is ambiguous.

The social media giant reiterated that if users receive these tags repeatedly, they will pull users out of the "browsing" and "tags" pages.

This automatic marking helps to curb some of the more annoying attempts to spread false information. I hope you will see fewer friends share examples of old pranks or junk science. This may not stop the most determined liars, nor will it help you avoid false political advertisements. However, this is a step in the right direction, and the development of fact-checking procedures in the world will certainly help.
