Microsoft announced in its latest blog that the latest test version of Canary for Chromium-based Edge browsers is much faster than earlier versions of Edge based on Chromium 79.

It House found that the improvements seen in Microsoft Edge version 81.0.389.0 were caused by "new tool chain optimization" and could be detected in daily browser use.

When Microsoft tested the updated Edge browser, it was found to be 13% faster in the Speedometer 2.0 benchmark than Edge 79.

According to IT House, the Speedometer 2.0 benchmark is considered to be a good example of real performance across multiple subsystems, a tool that allows developers to simulate user interaction with web applications and to test many well-known frameworks.

Microsoft hopes that Edge enthusiastic fans will test the latest version of Canary with the currently unenhanced versions of Edge Dev and Beta to see if they have improved.
