Cinder supports a variety of volume provider,LVM is the default volume provider.

After Devstack is installed, / etc/cinder/cinder is already configured with LVM.

The configuration defines a volume provider named "lvmdriver-1", also known as back-end. The volume group whose driver is LVM,LVM is called "stack-volumes-lvmdriver-1".

The volume group is not automatically created when Devstack is installed, so we need to create it manually. The following steps demonstrate creating a VG "stack-volumes-lvmdriver-1" on / dev/sdb:

First create physical volume / dev/sdb

The default configuration of lvm for Linux does not allow PV to be created on / dev/sdb, and sdb needs to be added to the filter of / etc/lvm.conf.

Then create a VG stack-volumes-lvmdriver-1

Open Web GUI and you can see that OpenStack has created Volume Type "lvmdriver-1"

Its Extra Specs volume_backend_name is lvmdriver-1.
