This article is the first in a series of "learning to use raspberry pie in 14 days". While this series of articles is aimed at people who don't use raspberry pie or Linux or have no programming experience, there must be something for experienced readers who I hope will leave useful comments, tips, and additions. Back to the point, if you want to have a raspberry pie, but you don't know which model to buy. Maybe you want to buy one for your teaching activities or for your child, but with so many choices, you don't know which one is the right one to buy.

I have three main criteria for choosing a new raspberry pie:

Cost: not only the cost of raspberry pie, but also the cost of peripheral accessories when you use it. In the United States, the cost of raspberry pie ranges from $5 (raspberry pie Zero) to $35 (raspberry pie 3B and 3B +). However, if you choose Zero, you may also need a USB hub to connect your mouse, keyboard, wireless network card, and some kind of display adapter. Whatever you want to do with raspberry pie, unless you already have (if not all) most of the peripherals, be sure to take these peripherals into your budget. In addition, the cost of raspberry pie (even without any peripherals) may be a considerable cost burden for many students and teachers in some countries.

Availability: find the raspberry pie you want based on your location, because it may be easy (or difficult) to get certain versions of raspberry pie in some countries. Availability can be a big problem just after the new model is released, and it may take days or weeks to get the latest version of raspberry pie in your market.

Use: location and cost may not affect everyone, but each buyer must consider what to do with raspberry pie. Eight different models are derived due to different memory, CPU core, CPU speed, physical size, network connection, peripheral expansion and so on. For example, if you need a solution that is more robust when you have more "horsepower", then you might want to choose the raspberry pie 3B, which has more memory, the fastest CPU, and more cores. If your solution does not require an Internet connection, is not used for CPU-intensive work, and needs to be hidden in a very small space, then a raspberry pie Zero will be your best choice.
