This article will explain in detail how to add management templates to the Group Policy Editor. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you as a reference. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

The function of group policy is very powerful, and its importance to system administrators is self-evident. Similarly, administrative templates are an important part of group policy, and they provide policy information for group policy management projects.

Administrative templates are saved as .adm files in the INF folder of the Windows2000/XP/2003 system folder, which are essentially text files. Four template files are installed by default in Group Policy, and their names and functions are:

(1) System.adm: used to set system policy

(2) Inetres.adm: used for InternetExplorer policy setting

(3) Wmplayer.adm: used for WindowsMediaPlayer policy setting

(4) Conf.adm: used for NetMeeting policy setting.

In the Windows2000/XP/2003 system, users can add their own administrative templates in the Group Policy Editor window, as follows:

Step 1, open the Group Policy Editor window and expand the computer configuration or user configuration directory in the left pane. Then right-click the manage templates option and select the add / remove templates command.

Step 2, click the add button in the add / remove templates dialog box that opens, then select the template file you want to add in the templates dialog box, and click the Open button. Return to the add / remove templates dialog box to see the template files that have been added, as shown in figure 2008112624.

Step 3, return to the Group Policy Editor window, expand the computer configuration → Administrative templates directory and expand the corresponding directory below to see the configuration project generated by the administrative template you just added.
