Google plans to support the graphics API Vulkan 1.1 in Android P. Vulkan is an exciting graphics API that brings more console quality graphics to mobile gaming. Samsung has supported Vulkan on Galaxy devices since 2016, while Google has also supported it in Android Nougat.

In some interesting demos, we've already seen the benefits Vulkan brings, such as giving developers more direct access to hardware than the current mainstream mobile graphics rendering API (OpenGL ES).

Vulkan supported by Android Nougat (Android 7) is the first version, and now that the new version Vulkan 1.1 is out, Google plans to introduce support for it in Android P, and currently plans to start support in Android P Developer Beta 2.

However, as an average user, you can't appreciate its advantages yet, because Vulkan 1.1 is more inclined to allow developers to make better use of the programming interface of available hardware. Only as more developers adopt Vulkan 1.1 will users experience mobile games looking better, performing better, and having more fun.
