Eclipse and UML Tool EA Connection Method

EA (Enterprise Architect) is very small, only 30M, not demanding of computers, but more functional than other software. Full support for UML 2.0, more UML compliant than other tools. Support java, c, dephi, c#, php, VB language forward code generation and reverse UML diagram generation. 1. download

First download UML tool EA at www.sparxsystems.com.au/products/ea_downloads.html

Then download the EA and Eclipse connectivity tool MDGlinkeclipse at:

http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/products/mdg_eclipse.html

Both tools are 30-day trials, but they're good enough.

2. installation

Well, first install UML tool EA, run Easetup.exe to end, simple.

Then install MDGlinkforEclipse, which is EAEcplise.zip, in two steps.

*** Step: Unzip EAEcplise.zip to have a jar and an exe file. Copy the jar file to your Ecplise plugins directory. For example: d:\eclipse\plugins

This jar file has versions, such as org.sparx.mdg.eclipse_1.0.19.jar, which is version 1.0.19. Make sure there are no other versions of this file under the d:\eclipse\plugins directory.

Step two, run that exe file, which is EAEclipse.exe, install it.

Now run the UML tool EA. If MDGlink is installed successfully, there should be an Add_Ins directory in the EA main menu after the TOOLS directory. Without this directory, it means that the link installation is unsuccessful. EA can use it, but it cannot connect with Eclipse. This situation depends on whether your operating system meets the installation requirements, such as 2000 does not install sp4 and so on, please see the EAECLIPSE.zip inside the help document.

Click Add_ins/Eclipse/Option, and a dialog box appears to enter the address of your Eclipse.exe, for example:\eclipse\eclipse.exe.

3. Connect Eclipse Engineering and UML Tool EA Engineering

Click File/newproject on EA's main menu to create a new EA project.

Click Add_Ins/ConnectExternalProject/Ecplise on the main menu, a dialog window appears, and Eclipse starts automatically, so it's okay to start Eclipse beforehand.

Select Ecplise project in the lower part of EA dialog window, click Connect button after selection, project connection is completed.

4.，UML and code synchronization

Click Add_Ins/MeragewithEclipse in the UML tool EA, and a window appears. Select type in the window is to select synchronization mode, none only generates UML class diagram;Forward is to generate code in the forward direction, that is, to convert UML diagram in EA into java file in Eclipse project;Reverse is reverse engineering, that is, to generate UML diagram from code in Ecplise project;Both is to mean forward and reverse at the same time.

The above connection is complete.

!!! Remember: MDGlink does not support Chinese, so select Forward or Both after the original Ecplise project program Chinese comments will become garbled!!!

In addition, the class code generated by EA's class diagram always generates a method in ***, which will report an error in Ecplise and can be deleted. Alternatively, you can remove this method by modifying the EA generator template.
