This article will explain in detail how different products of SAP support users to create custom fields. The content of the article is of high quality, so the editor will share it for you as a reference. I hope you will have a certain understanding of the relevant knowledge after reading this article.

Let's take a look at SAP CRM,Cloud for Customer (C4C for short) and S/4HANA respectively.

SAP CRM

We use what is called Application Enhancement Tool (AET) to create extension fields. First open the Configuration mode in Personalize so that you can create extension fields directly in the browser.

Check the "Enable configuration mode" box and turn on Configuration mode.

For example, I want to add a new field to the interface below. Very simple, click this gear to enter Configuration mode-configuration mode:

The area where new fields can be added to the current interface is automatically highlighted in blue:

Then I casually click the left mouse button in the highlighted area and click the button "Create Field" from the pop-up dialog box to create a new field.

This new field is technically subordinate to a node in a BO model, so I chose ORDERADM_H here.

Then specify the label, data type, field length, and so on. The field I created here is labeled "city name":

Click Save and Generate to create the field:

The field then appears on the UI interface:

You can now maintain the value of this field on UI:

The ability to search based on extended fields is also automatically implemented:

This is the creation and use of SAP CRM custom fields.

SAP Cloud for Customer

Similarly, click Edit- > Edit Master Layout to enter edit mode:

For example, I want to add some new fields to the Additional Information area of the following figure. Just hold the mouse up and a floating toolbar will pop up:

Select Add Fields to start adding new fields:

As with CRM, you need to maintain the type of extension field:

Compared with SAP CRM, the extension fields of C4C can be put on other models besides UI, such as on Adobe Form template:

And add it to Report data source:

And add it to Enterprise search:

And add it to extension scenario.

The extension scenario of the above figure is taken as an example: it means that if the value of the extension field on an Opportunity is A, then the value of the extension field of the same name is also A for the subsequent document Service Request generated by the Opportunity.

Extension fields can also be automatically added to Web Service and OData service of the SAP standard:

After saving, you can assign a value to the extension field.

S/4HANA

Unlike SAP CRM and SAP C4C, which create fields directly on the UI where you want to add extended fields, S/4HANA takes a unified approach by creating extended fields first, and then users decide which UI to put those fields on.

The tile Custom Fields and Logic of S/4HANA launchpad is specifically responsible for the creation of extension fields:

This time I want to create an extension field on the material master data of S/4HANA, so I selected Product Master General from the drop-down menu of Business Context.

The field label is maintained as "Jerry extension field on MARA", the type is Text, and the length is 20.

Then click the tab "UIs and Reports" and click the Enable Usage button for I_PRODUCTWD and MD_C_PRODUCT_MAINTAIN_MDLD:

Click Save when you are finished, and then click the publish button to make sure that the state of the extended field is in the Published state.

Click this button:

Click the "Adapt UI" button:

The upper right corner of the screen indicates that it is already in "Adaption" mode:

Right click and select the extension field "JDK Minimum version" that I created earlier from the list of "Available Fields":

The end user can then edit the extension field:

On how different SAP products support users to create custom fields is shared here, I hope the above content can be of some help to you, can learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it for more people to see.
