As a creator and ambassador, you should show enthusiasm and friendliness as much as possible, instead of becoming a pseudo-customer service agent to help everyone solve all problems. It's about finding a balance that allows a truly distributed network that doesn't depend on you. Clear communication. Many community building boils down to good communication. Let your members know how they are active in the community and reiterate that the project is theirs and yours. Emphasize recognition. Linkerd does a cool thing called "Linkerd Heroes" every month, and people who use the technology or do cool things for the community are nominated and vote-win a LinkedIn badge that they can display in their profiles. This is not necessarily a big deal, but it turns out that encouraging people like this does help encourage active participation. Recognition is important. Consciously. You must consciously build the community you want by sowing the culture and expectations that you want to permeate everything. If you let it develop on its own, you'll be in trouble.
