1. Enter Yunqi virtual machine backup system, select "backup / restore"-"Virtual Machine backup", and create a new backup task.

2. Check the virtual machine to be backed up under SANFOR HCI virtualization type, and the selected virtual machine will be displayed under "selected virtual machine". Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click "next".

3. You can choose "backup by Policy" and "one-time backup".

If you select "backup by Policy", the backup will be carried out in accordance with the set time policy. First select the backup type: [full backup], [incremental backup], [differential backup].

[full backup] all the data of the backup source will be backed up. After the backup is completed, the backup data will become a full backup point in time, and all data will be backed up. "incremental backup" is to back up the source data based on the last backup, relying on the last arbitrary backup point, and only backing up the changed data from the last backup to the current time. [differential backup] backs up the source data on the basis of the last full backup, relying on the last full backup point, and only backs up the changed data from the last full backup to the current time.

Normally. It is recommended to do a full backup once a week / month and an incremental backup once a day. Full backup can be combined with incremental backup or differential backup in the same task, but incremental backup and differential backup cannot be set at the same time. If only incremental or differential backups are set, the first run task is automatically demoted to full backup.

The run time policy can be set under each backup type, and you can select "Daily", "Weekly" and "monthly". Users can set them according to the importance of the virtual machine business. If you turn on the Scroll execute switch, the task is scrolled between the start time and the end time, with a user-set scrolling interval between the end of each task and the start of the next task.

If you select [one-time backup], the task performs a full backup at the selected point in time. Click the calendar icon to set the time to execute the task, which can be accurate to 5 minutes.

After selecting the backup method, click "next".

4. Configure backup tasks at an advanced level, setting [backup destination], [Storage Policy], [Transport Policy], [retention Policy], and [backup Mode].

[backup destination]: the node is selected automatically by default. If there are multiple storage, users can also manually select the backup storage destination according to their own needs.

[storage policy]: there are two options: deduplication and compressed storage. Turning on Deduplication will de-weight the backup data by block size, which helps reduce the size of the data storage. It is recommended to turn this on if there is a large amount of duplicate data. When compressed Storage is turned on, the backup data is compressed according to the block size, which helps to save storage space.

[transmission strategy]: AES 256encryption algorithm is used for transmission encryption. If transmission encryption is enabled, the data transferred from backup source to backup storage will be encrypted, and ciphertext transmission will be used to ensure the data security of users.

[retention policy]: the backup system will retain the backup data of the specified number of days / number, and the earliest backup data exceeding the specified number of days / number will be automatically deleted. The number of retention policies calculates only full backup points, excluding incremental or differential backup points attached to this full backup point.

[backup mode]: there are two options: "high speed mode" and "silent snapshot". Enabling high-speed mode retains a snapshot at the end of the task. There is no need to calculate the verification information of the data block when the backup task is run next time. It is recommended to enable it to locate valid data in the early stage of the backup. Silent snapshots can make file systems and applications consistent through application awareness. Windows operating system needs applications to support VSS in order to ensure the data consistency of applications. If you fail to take a silent snapshot after turning on a silent snapshot, a non-silent snapshot will be automatically attempted.

After setting up the advanced configuration, click "next".

5. Confirm configuration information. Confirm the configuration information of the task, and modify the task name, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click "submit".

6. After submitting the task, you will automatically jump to the "current Task" page to view the backup task you just created. Click the "Action" button on the right to run or stop the task manually, or you can wait for the system to automatically perform the backup task in accordance with the set policy. Click the task name to go to the "Task details" page.

7. The traffic speed of data transfer when the task is running is displayed at the top left of the "Task details" page, and the configuration information of the task is displayed at the top right. The running log, virtual machine list and historical tasks of the backup task are shown below.
