Step 3. Install SQL Server 2017 installation

Note: do the following as a local administrator on the Configuration Manager server (CM16)

Follow the instructions in https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=94001 to configure the firewall policy.

After configuring the firewall, mount the SQL Server 2017 image and browse to the drive where the SQL Server 2017 media is located, and then run setup.exe.

Sign in the SQL Server installation Center wizard.

Click install, and then select New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation.

Please enter the product key or use the evaluation version. For licensed media downloaded from the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center, the product key is automatically filled in.

Accept the agreement

Whether to accept Microsoft Update or not, click "next" to continue

View installation rules

Select the required SQL Server instance function and change the installation path if necessary according to the customer's plan

Leave it as the default instance configuration (or name the instance according to the customer plan configuration)

Service account settings. It is recommended to create a separate SQL service account.

For collation, make sure that the collation is set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

For Server configuration, click add current user

After configuring the data directory, TempDB and file stream settings, you are ready to install

Click install to begin the installation of SQL Server 2017, and click close when you are finished.

After installing SQL Server 2017, download and install SQL Server 2017 SSMS from here.
