This article will explain in detail how to accelerate the startup speed in the Windows XP system, and the content of the article is of high quality, so the editor will share it for you as a reference. I hope you will have a certain understanding of the relevant knowledge after reading this article.

With the growing size of the Windows system, Microsoft provides a pre-read function in Windows XP. That is, a Prefetch folder is added to the Windows folder to improve system performance and speed up system startup and file reading. However, with the increase of usage time, every time a user uses a program, the system will leave an index file with the extension PF in the folder. Pre-reading the file causes the system to start slowly because of the index file generated when the program is run. Therefore, we only need to disable the generation of PF files.

1. Shut down related services

Enter "msconfig" in the "run" window and enter to open the system configuration utility window, switch it to the "Service" tab, then uncheck the check before the "Task Scheduler" item and save the settings, which can serve the purpose of prohibiting the establishment of index files.

Second, only read system files

Because the index information of the system and the application is saved in Prefetch, from the point of view of improving the startup speed, we can only set to read the system file and skip the index file reading process of the application. For this, you can run "regedit" and open the registry editor, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ Session Manager\ Memory Management\ PrefetchParameters, double-click the "EnablePrefetcher" on the right, you can see that its value is 3, that is, read system files and applications, we can change it to 2, that is, only pre-read Windows system files.

Turn off the computer and empty the pre-read files automatically.

We can also speed up the next boot by automatically emptying the contents of the pre-read folder when we turn it off. Open notepad and enter del% systemroot%\ Prefetch\ *. * / Q to save the file as a del.bat file. Next, open the "run" window, enter gpedit.msc and enter to open the Group Policy Editor, select "computer configuration-Windows Settings-script", double-click the "shutdown" item on the right, and click the "add" button in the open window to add the del.bat file. In this way, when shutting down, the group policy will call del.bat in the background and run the commands to clear the contents of the read-ahead folder, thus improving the speed of the next startup.

About how to start speed acceleration in the Windows XP system to share here, I hope the above content can be of some help to you, can learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it for more people to see.
