Shipping unit

In SAP, the shipping unit is the default unit for warehouse delivery. It is located in both the factory data store 1 view of the master data (shown in the following figure) and the work plan view. The shipping unit is under the factory organization, that is, different factories can choose different shipping units. After an item creates a new shipping unit, if it is created as a BOM sub-item, the new shipping unit will also be used by default in the newly created receipt and invoice (e. G. 561and 562c). However, the planned orders, production orders, pre-existing BOM subitems, reservations, etc. of this material still use the basic unit of measurement. Therefore, when establishing a new shipping unit, be sure to remember to modify the existing BOM item.

When the warehouse delivers the BOM to the production order, the system will automatically convert the shipping unit in the BOM sub-item into the basic unit of measurement. Once a BOM subitem or reservation with a new shipping unit exists in the system, the shipping unit in the master data cannot be changed.
