The compressed file name after the parameter f is chosen by yourself, and it is customary to use tar to do it. If the z parameter is added, tar.gz or tgz is used to represent the gzip compressed tar file file.

1 extract the tgz file to the specified directory

Tar zxvf test.tgz-C specified directory

For example, extract / source/kernel.tgz to the / source/linux-2.6.29 directory

Tar zxvf / source/kernel.tgz-C / source/ linux-2.6.29

2 compress the specified directory to the specified file

For example, compress the linux-2.6.29 directory to kernel.tgz

Tar czvf kernel.tgz linux-2.6.29
