For cloud, there are many technical means to control these. For self-built IDC, this is their heart disease and pain because enterprises will not purchase many servers that may not be used for no reason.

This is a common case of many enterprises building servers in the computer room. This architecture is no problem for small enterprises. When we don't have enough servers, we buy them again and don't care about this time. However, if we rely on Internet value-added companies for business, this situation is not allowed to occur. Time is money. Delay me in making money. Humph! Well, you're on your own. There is no way the boss is so difficult to wait on, not only do not want to invest high costs but also want to accelerate the development of the business, then do we have the same technology that can automatically increase the available services when the business bursts and reduce the available services when the business peaks to reduce costs?

Ess(Elastic Scaling Service) As its name implies, elastic scaling is a technology of Alibaba Cloud that can be used to automatically increase or decrease servers, and can also provide a service mode such as self-healing function when health problems occur on servers.

So under what circumstances we will need to use ESS technology, such as game servers, Taobao treasure, these relatively large fluctuations in the number of visits to the network, there may be 10 million people in the first second to visit the next second to break through 20 million people, in such a huge number of visits on the need to use such technology, right, it is impossible for you to let me one by one manual on the server.

ESS Technology Demonstration

We use a WEB server to do a simple demonstration, first we create a website server (only for demonstration) ip 47.101.181.236, and visit whether the page is normal.

OK, everything is normal. Next, I should make a mirror for this server first, so that ESS will call this mirror to do Auto Scaling. We can fill in the mirror name in the Create Custom Mirror, write the comments and click Create directly.

After the creation, we go to "Auto Scaling" to start creating a scaling group. Fill in the fields according to your actual requirements. Here, I set the Maximum Number of Scalable Instances to 2, the Minimum Number of Scalable Instances to 0, the cooling time to default, the network type to select a proprietary network, and the switch to select a switch in a proprietary network. If no changes are needed, the defaults will remain.

Then we choose the appropriate server configuration scheme, the operating system is a custom image file, choose to allocate a public network IP address, and finally enter the scaling configuration name and create it.

Then we select ECS Instance List-Add Existing Instance to add an instance to it in the Scale Management Console, then create a rule in Scale Rules, fill in the rule name, adjust to 2 and confirm. Next we choose "Timed Tasks" the same way we create a name and then select the time you need to flex and we build the scaling groups and rules and confirm.

Below we test whether Auto Scaling works normally at the specified time and according to the specified rules. When the second server is automatically created, we can also access the website with different IPs. Let's look at the status first:

Status before validation: You can see only one server working

Status after validation: you can see that there are already two servers working

We go back to the ECS console to check the status of the server: you can see that in the previous instance and an additional instance of this operation is normal, we can use the newly generated server IP to visit and ask if the website is normal, in IE input 106.14.216.94 Well, it seems that everything is normal.
