tar zxvf proftpd-1.3.3.tar.gz

cd proftpd-1.3.3

./ configure --prefix=/usr/local/proftpd

make

make install

Edit startup script:

cd proftpd-1.3.2

Copy proftpd.init.d into the/etc/rc.d/init.d folder and rename it proftpd

cp contrib/dist/rpm/proftpd.init.d /etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd

Edit/etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd, find the file line beginning with PATH, change it to the directory where proftpd is installed

vim /etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd

PATH="$PATH:/usr/local/proftpd/sbin:/usr/local/proftpd/bin"

Add permissions to/etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd

chmod +x /etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd

Modify the configuration file to comment out the relevant group

vim /usr/local/proftpd/etc/proftpd.conf

Centos opens proftpd service

chkconfig --level 35 proftpd on

chkconfig --add proftpd

service proftpd start
