Google installer is an exe program, although there are silent installation parameters, but will modify the home page and search engine for google, but google basically can not be accessed in the country.

Requirements:

msi package is preferred for deployment and upgrade

Remove google's homepage and search engine settings.

How?

A long time ago, I used advanced installer , which is a very good tool. Now I find that the version has been upgraded to many versions, and the function is very rich.

A trial version is available for 30 days (full functionality), except that the generated files will prompt when there is an interface installation that is generated by the trial version, but it does not affect the silent installation.

First look at the advanced installer function menu, you can say a lot of support, various installers. Java support, plug-in support, Microsoft Store applications, features imported from other projects such as Visual Studio, NISI, WIX projects, conversion packages, and support for virtualization environments such as app-v.

Since the feature I want is repackaging, let's take a look at the Conver feature. I will use the Repackage Installation feature to capture the installation of Google IME and regenerate the msi file.

Click create Project, and if the trial continues window pops up, click continue. The trial version is perfectly adequate for small projects, but if you often need to deal with various installers, you can buy a license.

Select the exe installation file for Google IME.

Select Local start, this software can also directly generate a virtual machine, and then capture in the virtual machine, relatively speaking, such an environment is more pure. However, my system is using the virtual box virtual machine of vagrant, so I use Local mode directly.

Select project save location

Continue to let fix Issue , click fix, if fix does not drop, such as Remote Desktop services,Defender service and so on, I now see that there is not much impact, you can directly ignore

Then the software starts installing google IME and records pre-installation Snapshot and post-installation Snapshot

Remove two google settings (home page and search engine)

Since the configuration of the setup wizard is user level, we do not select this item.

Click Done to install Google IME. Google will also pop up an IE page and close it (some files and registry items related to IE may be generated here, and we will talk about how to deal with it later)

Select MSI and select Continue in Advanced Installer

Remove irrelevant files, registries, unnecessary scheduled tasks, services, etc.

Then review and change the registry, files, etc., for example, I only keep the settings under HKLM, and then only keep the Keyboard Layouts item in system Control.

File Make sure only google related files, other files (such as user-related settings, data classes, delete)

Now you can Build and generate MSI files. In fact, Advaned Installer also provides a Package Definition ->Deployment -->Launch SCCM deployment tool , which can be connected directly to SCCM to deploy file settings. Since I am familiar with SCCM, I will generate MSI files directly.

Perform installation tests on MSI files. Copy the generated project and files, MSI, etc. to a place outside the virtual machine, such as a shared folder, and then restore the virtual machine to the previous Snapshot, install the MSI package of Google Pinyin, and see if there is any problem. If you don't want to roll back Snapshot and continue testing in your current environment, remember to uninstall Google IME first.
