In the Linux system, we can delete files through the rm-rf command,-r means downward recursion no matter how many levels are deleted, and-f means directly forcibly delete without any prompt.

Deleting a directory on a linux system is easy. We can use the rmdir command to delete it, but we will have trouble when the directory is not empty. Now we can delete it directly using the rm-rf command

Syntax:

Rm-rf directory name

Detailed description of parameters:

-r is recursive downwards, and no matter how many directories there are, delete them as well.

-f means to delete directly and forcibly without giving any prompt.

Example: delete a file

Rm-f / var/log/httpd/access.log

This command indicates that the file / var/log/httpd/access.log will be forcibly deleted.

Example: delete a folder

Rm-rf / var/log/httpd/access

It means that the / var/log/httpd/access directory and all files and folders under it will be deleted

Note when using the rm command:

Be very careful when using this rm-rf. There is no recycle bin in the linux system. So it's hard to find it after deletion.
