MBR

Since the early 1980s, the standard partition table format supports up to four primary partitions per drive and up to 2TB disks.

GPT

GPT is a subsequent MBR partition table format that supports up to 128partitions per drive and can partition a disk up to 18 exabytes.

Use MBR for disks smaller than 2TB

Use GTP for disks larger than 2TB
