Many novices are not very clear about what is the difference between public and private ip. In order to help you solve this problem, the following editor will explain it in detail. People with this need can come and learn. I hope you can gain something.

What is the difference between a private ip shared by a CVM? Many users must have heard of the concepts of public network IP and private IP in the process of purchasing and using CVM. So what is the type of IP between the two, and what is the difference? let's introduce it.

Public IP address

That is, the IP address that the cloud service provider usually assigns to you when you purchase a CVM. It is the responsibility of Inter NIC (Internet Information Center). These IP addresses are assigned to organizations that register and apply to Inter NIC, and the public IP is globally unique, through which it has direct access to the Internet (direct access).

At present, there are mainly five types of public IP addresses: a, B, C, D and E.

Class A: addresses range from 1.0.0.0 to 127.255.255.255, mainly assigned to large networks with a large number of hosts and a small number of LAN networks

Category B: addresses range from 128.0.0.0 to 191.255.255.255, generally used by large international companies and government agencies

Class C: addresses range from 192.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255, for general small companies, campus network research institutions, etc.

Class D: addresses range from 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 for special purposes, also known as broadcast addresses

Class E: the address range is 240.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255, temporarily reserved.

Private IP address

It belongs to an unregistered address and is specially used within the organization, that is, the IP on the local local area network. To put it simply, the private IP cannot access the Internet directly.

Different from the public IP address, the private IP mainly has three types: class An address range is 10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255; Class B address range is 172.16.0.0-172.31.255.255th address range is 192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255. 127.0.0.0 to 127.255.255.255 are system loopback addresses.

Take Baidu server as an example, it doesn't care what the other party's private IP is, it must be the public IP that accesses it. Port mapping is used for private IP to public IP translation.

Port mapping can map multiple ports of an external network IP address machine to different ports on different machines in the internal network. When the user accesses this port of the external network IP, the server automatically maps the request to the machine inside the corresponding local area network.
