­Wine 3.13 released that Wine (recursive abbreviation for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on a variety of POSIX-compliant operating systems such as Linux,macOS and BSD. Instead of imitating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or simulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into dynamic POSIX calls, eliminating the memory footprint of performance and other behaviors, allowing you to cleanly aggregate Windows applications to your desktop.

­the main contents of this update are as follows:

Vulkan is supported using MoltenVK on ­macOS.

­initially support performance data in the registry.

­the Mono engine has updated some bug fixes.

­getting BIOS information on Linux is supported.

­GnuTLS is available for macOS.

­improve the standard Task Dialog.

­some other bug fixes.

­Vulkan support is provided on macOS through MoltenVK, and by using the MoltenVK wrapper, the "winemac" code gets the initial Vulkan support to make the Winemac driver support Vulkan and expose it to Windows programs on top of MoltenVK, because this allows Wine developers to pay more attention to Vulkan support.

­this is also good news for Linux gamers, as Vulkan activities around Wine are likely to increase and developers will pay more attention to it, ideally leading to a more dynamic ecosystem and better support.
