How to arrange Windows 10 to close at a specific date and time, many novices are not very clear about this. In order to help you solve this problem, the following editor will explain it in detail. People with this need can come and learn. I hope you can get something.

Using the built-in Win10 task scheduler, you can set up a process in which the computer automatically shuts down at a specific time.

For many enterprises, this is the standard operating procedure for employees to turn on workstation computers when they leave the office. Typically, at some point later in the evening, these workstation computers will go into sleep or hibernation mode, thereby at least reducing power consumption. But what if companies want to further reduce power consumption?

In Microsoft windows 10, you can set a scheduled shutdown of PC for a specific time. In theory, a computer that shuts down completely will consume less electricity, save companies a lot of money and reduce their carbon footprint. With the help of Win10 Task Scheduler, arrange to close after work.

This usage tutorial shows you how to use Windows Task Scheduler to start the shutdown sequence of a windows 10 computer at a specific time.

Schedule windows 10 to shut down for a specific date and time

Starting with the first version of the operating system, some versions of Task Scheduler applications have become part of the Windows administration toolkit. You can access the windows 10 version by typing Task Scheduler in the desktop search box and then selecting the appropriate results. As shown in figure A, the task scheduler can perform many tasks, which may seem scary at first glance.

Our planned shutdown is classified as a basic task, so click the create basic Task item in the right window to begin the creation process, as shown in figure B.

Give your task a name and description, and then click the next button to enter the trigger screen shown in figure C.

Shows several options. You can run the shutdown process daily, weekly, or monthly. You can also ask the task scheduler to wait for a specific event. For our example, we will choose on a daily basis. Once selected, click next. If you select daily, you will be asked to specify a start date and execution time, as shown in figure D.

After you have made your choice, click the next button to enter the actions screen, as shown in figure E. There are three options on this screen, but one option we will use is "start the program".

Click next to go to the screen shown in figure F. This is the input location for the main functions of our task.

Enter "close" in the script box, and then enter "- s-f-t 60" in the add parameters box. Parameters are part of the standard settings of the shutdown.exe program. -s tells Windows to shut down, or you can use-r to restart PC. -f forces a running application to close as part of the shutdown process, while-t 60 adds a 1-minute countdown. If you want to turn it off immediately, change this parameter to-t 0.

Click next to go to the finish screen shown in figure G, where you will see a summary of the task and have the opportunity to open the properties dialog box for the task after clicking the finish button.

When you are satisfied with the settings for the task, click the finish button to save it, and then close Task Scheduler. For our example, starting at 1:00 on November 12, 2019, our windows 10 computer will close all running applications and shut down after a 1-minute countdown.
