There are three ways to authenticate:

The first method: Plain Text, your password is passed in clear text on the network, which means that as long as someone intercepts the data packet you send, it is possible to know your password.

Second: used in the domain, using NTLM or kerbores for authentication, but some non-Microsoft clients may not support it. You should use it in conjunction with the SPA secure login option in OE.

The default is the third: secure login, which requires a certificate to encrypt, and your password is transmitted encrypted on the network.

Here we choose the default "secure login":
