Microsoft is developing a long-awaited feature for the Teams desktop client that prevents messages from being lost in confusion. According to the company's product roadmap, the Microsoft team will soon allow users to reply to specific messages and refer to the original query in their responses. Microsoft explained: "the original message will be referenced in the reply text box to help everyone in the chat understand the context of the message more easily."

This feature will apply to text chats in one-on-one conversations, groups, and meetings, and will log in for all team users by the end of next month.

The ability to respond to specific messages is not new in the area of collaborative tools. For example, Slack has been allowing users to create message chains for many years, and Teams mobile applications have provided this capability.

The upcoming update will restore equality between Microsoft's team desktop version and its partner competitors.

This feature is especially useful when multiple conversations occur at the same time in a channel. The ability to reference the original message in the reply will make it easier to track the conversation thread and ensure that fewer queries are ignored or unresolved.

However, users can not only reply to specific messages, but also choose more emoticons in response. Microsoft also revealed that it is making a major expansion of its team emoji library, expanding from 85 projects to more than 800 projects.

Microsoft wrote: "the expanded facial expression update not only brings more fun and expression to the team, but also introduces wider diversity and representativeness."

Like the new reply function, the upgraded emoji library will log in in April.
