For two forests to be able to access each other, you must first configure two-way DNS forwarding and trust between the two sites.

Source domain

Exchange2010 environment demo.com 192.168.10.80

Target domain

Exchange2016 environment satid.com 192.168.30.50

There are two steps in this article:

1. Add DNS forwarding to the source domain

2. Add DNS forwarding to the destination domain

The following settings operate in the source domain

Forest, domain functional level

Open the "DNS Management tool", in the forward search area option, click [right], and select the New Zone option.

Select auxiliary area

Enter the target domain name

After filling in the target domain IP, the machine name of the target domain will be automatically resolved. If it cannot be resolved, please add a hosts record, as shown below.

After you have finished adding the area, you will also make the following changes

After the source domain operation is complete, do the same in the target domain below

Forwarding settings are complete, records are synchronized
