Mozilla announced that it has teamed up with Microsoft, Google, W3C and Samsung to create a cross-browser documentation standard based on its own developer network (Mozilla Developer Netword, referred to as MDN). It aims to integrate information goals related to Web development on multiple browsers, not just Mozilla's own Firefox. A product advisory committee has been established to maintain existing relationships and to guide the company's development in the coming years. Jason Weber, head of project management partners at Microsoft Edge, said:

"Cross-device and platform access makes it unique, and Microsoft is committed to helping it continue to grow. We are pleased to work with Mozilla, Google, and Samsung to provide an excellent set of web standard documentation for web developers around the world on the basis of MDN."

The MDN web docs project is also making web development easier, providing novice and experienced programmers with a central location for high-quality information and supporting web development languages such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and so on.

MDN currently serves more than 6 million web developers and designers every month, and the number of visitors is growing at a rate of 40 per cent a year. When Microsoft joins in, it will focus its Web API documents on MDN and redirect the relevant content on MSDN to MDN.
